GREEN VALLEY OLIVE
Frantoio Leccino

Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Fall 2010 Harvest

This Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil is our classic and most popular oil. Our "field blend" of Frantoio, Leccino, Maurino and Pendolino cultivars -- cultivars traditionally associated with Italy's Toscana region -- are grown, harvested at optimal ripeness, pressed and bottled in our protective packaging with an eye to maximizing both taste and quality. Our medium ripe style features herbaceous aromas and a bright olive flavor. Japan's Nikkei Magazine, reporting the results of a taste contest in one of the world's most competitive gourmet markets, said of our Fall 2009 Harvest "This oil is fruity, without any acidity or bitterness, making it very suited to our palates."

GREEN VALLEY OLIVE
Favolosa

Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Fall 2010 Harvest

This Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Green Valley Olive is produced in California from olives grown in California. Great olive oil can only come from great cultivars and Favolosa was born for greatness. This special hybrid was created by Professor Giuseppe Fontanazza, Director of Research at The Institute for Mediterranean Agriculture and Forest Systems within Italy's National Research Council. The patented Favolosa cultivar yields concentrated olive clusters with high oil content, high polyphenol levels and low pungency. We harvest this Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil in our preferred medium-ripe style, creating an intensely fruity oil. Favolosa is very popular among our customers who prefer a milder oil.

GREEN VALLEY OLIVE
Nuovo

Direct-bottled Extra Virgin Olive Oil
January 2011 Harvest

Nuovo, Green Valley Olive’s unfiltered, direct bottled olive, is produced in California from Mission and Manzanillo cultivars grown in California. The Mission olive is thought to have arrived in California in the 18th century with the arrival of Franciscan missionaries and is perhaps California's best known olive. It's slightly larger fruit lends itself both to oils and table olives. The Mission olive was at the heart of California's first commercial olive industry boom in the late 1800's and early 1900s and was in turn carried and propigated as far as Japan's Shodoshima Island at that time. Immediately after pressing and bottling, our Nuovo takes its vibrant green color and fresh taste from microscopic olive particles still suspended in the oil. After March or April, gravity naturally clears these suspended particles and the now-clear oil takes on the characteristics of a great Mission-Manzanillo olive oil with aromas of olive fruit and grass and a light banana back-note.
